Contents

AfterDrink is a supplement designed to reduce the severity of hangovers after drinking alcohol.

“Hangover pills” are quite popular nowadays with several different products on the market to choose from. They come in all different forms including supplement patches, pills and drinks.

In this review of AfterDrink, I take a look at the pills in more detail and see how it comes to similar products on the market.

With so many hangover pills on the market, it can be difficult to know which one is actually the best.

In the following AfterDrink review are going to discuss all aspects of this hangover pill, including ingredients, how it works and any possible side effects. Most importantly, I’ll discuss whether AfterDrink works or not.

My AfterDrink Review – Personal Test

My AfterDrink Pills

To test AfterDrink and bring you a fair impartial review, I had to get drunk a few times. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it I’m afraid…

The first time, I went out and had 6 double whiskeys on the rocks. That’s normally enough to make me hungover the next day.

Before I went out, I took 3 AfterDrink pills. As soon as I got home, I took another 3 capsules. In the morning, I felt only very slightly hungover. I would say at least 50% – 60% better than usual.

I still felt tired and I wasn’t 100% my usual self. But AfterDrink certainly took the edge off my hangover. It’s more than I expected and it allowed me to get on with my work and I even managed to get to the gym.

Overall I was very impressed and had the same experience the couple of other times I’ve tried it so far.

Company Background

Launching at the end of 2016, AfterDrink has been around for a fair few years now. They pride themselves on their all-natural formulation which has been refined over the years.

AfterDrink is manufactured in New Jersey, USA in a GMP certified facility and they sell all over the world.

On top of that, US shipping is free and there are package options with free international delivery as well.

How does AfterDrink work as a Hangover Cure?

Before we answer this question, we first need to go over how drinking too much alcohol causes hangovers.

Everyone knows that alcohol causes dehydration which is a key part of hangovers. It’s a diuretic which means it makes your kidneys flush out water. Although dehydration is one of the main causes of a hangover, it’s not the only one.

When alcohol is broken down by your liver, by-products such as acetaldehyde are formed which are toxic. They are what’s known as “free-radicals” that react with your cells causing inflammation.

Therefore, inflammation is also a key factor causing your hangover symptoms.

In normal circumstances, antioxidants produced by your liver clear up free-radicals before they get out of control.

That’s where hangover pills like AfterDrink come into play. It’s a supplement that contains a natural antioxidant blend of vitamins and aino acids which reinforce your body’s antioxidant defenses. It can help support the liver with it’s detoxifying functions

With all that said, there are other causes of a hangover such as poor sleep quality and congeners, so it’s important to appreciate that products like AfterDrink are not hangover “cures”.

Product Ingredients

This is the official ingredients list from the product label:

A list of AfterDrink ingredients

When reading the ingredients list, the first thing to notice is that AtfterDrink does not use a proprietary blend. Essentially, this means that every ingredient is disclosed, including the exact concentration and dosing.

Nowadays, it’s rare to see manufactures not using proprietary blends. The reason is, they are more expensive to produce.

They also use all natural ingredients. So, it’s a positive start for AfterDrink.

The full list of ingredients is as follows:

Vitamins & Minerals

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Vitamin E (DL-Tocopherol Acetate), Vitamin B1 (Thiamin Hydrochloride), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Niacin (Nicotinamide), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, (magnesium Citrate), Zinc (Zinc Oxide), Selenium (L-Selenomethionine), Copper (Copper Gluconate), Manganese (Manganese Citrate), Chromium (Chromium Picolinate).

Important Ingredients to Relieve Symptoms of a Hangover

B-vitamins

B vitamins are essential for normal metabolism. They help regenerate the enzymes required to break down alcohol. That’s why you’ll see that the amount of B vitamins in AfterDrink is higher than the recommended daily amounts.

Not to worry though, B vitamins are water-soluble so you’ll just pee out any unused excess.

Dihydromyricetin (DHM)

Just about every hangover pill on the market contains DHM. That’s because studies have shown it can speed up alcohol metabolism and reduce hangover severity.

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is one of the best-known liver health herbs around. Several studies have shown it reduces inflammation in the liver.

Panax Ginseng

In 2014, a study showed that taking ginseng before drinking alcohol reduced the severity of hangover symptoms in test subjects.

Prickly Pear

In another study, Prickly Pear reduced hangover symptoms in the participants which is thought to be because it contains high concentrations of polyphenols. These are natural plant-based antioxidants.

L- Theanine

Found in high amounts in green tea, L-Theanine has been shown to increase brain alpha waves which induce a sense of calm.

Acetyl L Cysteine

N-Acetyl- Cysteine is an amino acid that’s known to have detoxifying properties. Studies show it can help to reduce alcohol inflammation by increasing glutathione production in the liver.

Ginger

Arguably the best natural anti-sickness remedy, ginger has been used for centuries for this purpose. And, it’s known to work as it’s been shown to be effective in studies.

How do you take it?

The instructions advise taking 3 capsules before your first drink and 3 after your last with a full glass of water. It’s important because the ingredients need to work before your hangover has set in.

The same goes for every hangover supplement on the market. None of them are designed to be taken when you’ve actually got a hangover.

By then, the damage is done. Only time, water and sleep will help.

Does it have side effects?

The ingredients in AfterDrink are all-natural. They are well-recognized herbal ingredients with a good safety profile.

However, everyone is different and you may experience a reaction. In which case, as with anything else, you should stop taking it and seek advice from a doctor or health care professional.

If you have any serious health problems you should consult your physician before taking.

How much does AfterDrink cost?

AfterDrink costs $35 for 1 bottle. That’s enough for 8 nights out/hangovers

On their website, they have other offers that can save you some dollars. For example, if you buy a 3 pack worth $99, you get 1 bottle free.

Better still, international delivery is free with this package. AfterDrink ships worldwide.

Is AfterDrink better than hangover supplements or drinks?

I mentioned earlier that nowadays, hangover supplements come in all different shapes and sizes.

Generally speaking, hangover pills and drinks are better than patches. The reason is, they can deliver much higher ingredient doses. Therefore, they are more likely to work.

Compared to other hangover supplements and drinks on the market, AfterDrink is one of the best for us. They have the most comprehensive ingredients list that’s dosed properly.

Finally, they also offer a 30-day money back guarantee if you are not happy with the product, you can’t say much fairer than that!

Is AfterDrink FDA approved?

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) doesn’t approve dietary or hangover supplements. However, they do regulate them. That means certain ingredients are not allowed to be used in supplements.

Thankfully, AfterDrink doesn’t contain any of these. In addition, AfterDrink is manufactured in the USA in a facility that is FDA compliant. Therefore, the ingredients in every batch are checked for purity and strength before they are sold to us.

Things to consider

Hangovers are caused by drinking too much alcohol. Period. The best way to “cure” a hangover is to not drink so much in the first place.

If you’re planning on getting black-out drunk and expect to wake up with no hangover after taking hangover supplements like AfterDrink, you’re going to be disappointed.

Supplements are not magic pills. They are designed to support healthy recovery after drinking alcohol. That means, all the usual precautions need to be taken. For example, drinking plenty of water, eating before going out and drinking less alcohol.

With this in mind, adding AfterDrink to your recovery routine is sure to make an impact.

In summary

AfterDrink is one of the best hangover pills on the market. It’s worked for me and has worked for thousands of other happy customers.

The reason why it works is because of its ingredients list. The formula is well balanced and dosed properly. You can clearly see every ingredient on the label and they avoid using a “proprietary blend”.

In addition, it’s an easy-to-take pill before and after your night out and doesn’t contain anything artificial. On top of that, it’s made in the USA by a reputable manufacturer so it’s safe to take.

Having tested it out myself, I won’t be getting drunk in the future without having some AfterDrink in stock.

I hope you enjoyed my AfterDrink review and remember, drink responsibly and stay safe!
